Occupation - Andrews

I decided to choose a task that my mother would complete at her job in the elementary school office in Bremen. She is a secretary and gathers bunch of information together in order to help the school run smoothly. Without her answering phones, typing up newsletters, dealing with upset parents, and so much more, the school would not be able to run smoothly; which, in turn, affects the education that the children are getting in that particular public school. Secretaries are important in every school around the United States. They make the issues and events in the school flow as smooth as possible. I decided to choose to film my mother's occupation because I think it is amazing what she does. The simplest things are ten times more difficult in her job because of all of the distractions around her. I decided to film her doing what seems to be a simple task; filling in a simple, fill-in-the-blank newsletter for parents of the elementary and middle school students. When I did my observation, I sat the camera on a desk beside my mother. We were in the elementary office at the front of the school where her and another secretary answer the phones and do other tasks. I did not come across any problems during the filming of this project. I found it very easy to film her actions. I just sat the camera down so I would have a stable surface so the camera wouldn't shake. I also filmed early in the morning; at the beginning of the school day.
